(Business) Hobby as usual, Jenkins.

One third of the set is known.

So far looks like a good limited set and it features not only Standard gems.

Part 1 of the general review is here.

Favourite rare for now - Collective Brutality

Favourite uncommon(s) - Unsubstantiate, Blessed Alliance

Favourite common - Galvanic Bombardment

The push of the set for Standard as of now:

- Vampires (more black mana intensive, more fliers, even more on Madness),

- Potentially Zombies, but seems unlikely,

- A few good or very good new tools for Wr Humans

Schtay Tuned!

- Potentially Zombies, but seems unlikely,
Since Liliana, Gisa, Geralf and Ludevic are all still hanging around and we haven't heard much about any of them (well, more about Liliana later today though), I'd be surprised if there wasn't several zombie cards left to spoil. And since there's only one zombie card with cmc1 in Standard at the moment (and even that is pretty bad... and also rotating soon), seems highly unlikely that they wouldn't print at least one cmc1 zombie in this set.

Lainaus
Anything's a bear trap, if the bear is dumb enough.

They've also revealed only 62 out of 205 cards, four of which are directly zombie related, so there's bound to be a few more.

Correction, six cards so far are related to zombies (forgot Gisa and Geralf and that one sorcery), but my point still stands.

Le Part 2/3.

Part 3 will follow up today-tomorrow.

Conclusions:

- Still hold my previous statement about the zombies, aka maybe, but unlikely.

- I want to be build UW Spirits already, I think that deck got everything now.

It will be very MonoU Devotion alike.

- GB got few toys.

- Not impressed by new Lilly, but won't be surprised it see play in very midrangy decks.

- Not that many cards for eternal formats, but the bring all your lands back spell and the new green tutor blow my mind.

- Escalate cards are awesome.

- Pretty much every Standard archtype got something and there are too new decks: Vampires and Spirits.

- Wolfs and Werewolfs imo still miss few things to make to competitive.

What cards exactly make Spirits feasible?
I don't think Nebelgast Herald and Spell Queller are enough. Mauseleum wanderer is ok too I guess. Still, even zombies and werewolves seem more playable.

Spirits got 8 creatures to counter removals and some other spells, plus Reflectors, plus a creature to sac to save the team, plus the option to splash CoCo.

I think if Chapin is building Spirits in an article on SCG Premium, then I cannot that wrong.

Meanwhile Part 3 of the set review is up.
